Vanessa Schierman PhD WITCH A Thrilling Dark Fantasy The Bloodsong Series edition by Sandy Nathan Paranormal Romance eBooks

Vanessa Schierman PhD. Witch is a short book of around one hundred and thirty pages on my ereader that contains three short stories about a character previously introduced in other Sandy Nathan novels. That character is Vanessa Schierman, a renowned theoretical physicist who also happens to be a witch. She is also the richest person in the world and, due to a small bit of narcissism, wants the world to know it. After an article stating that her nemesis (also the man she loves), Will Duane, is named the richest person in the world, she enlists the help of a journalist to write about her and tell the world the truth. The article written is not very flattering so she deals with the journalist in a rather unprofessional manner. The first story in the book is about all of these aspects and introduces a bit of Vanessa’s back story, although not nearly enough for me. I haven’t read any of the novels Vanessa has shown up in so I wasn’t familiar with the character at all. For those readers, like me, who aren’t familiar with her as a character, it would have been nice to have a bit more of an introduction about her and her past. A little about her background and some more of who she is and what makes her tick would have made the first story more enjoyable. Instead I felt like I opened the book in the middle and just started reading. The other two stories are much better and I was able to settle in to these stories and enjoy them much more. The second one, The Talisman and the Witch’s Code, was my favorite of the whole book. The writing has a faster pace and the characters were given more depth, in particular Vanessa and her niece, Adriana, who is not only a witch but also a vampire. The last story, How Did You Become a Witch, answers some questions about Vanessa that I had from the first story so it was a nice way to tie the book up. Plus there is a nice little door left open for another book involving Vanessa, Will, and Vanessa’s entertaining family. I would love to read a full length book involving all of these characters. They are fun, quirky, and just a little bit dark. I read this book on my ereader and the formatting and editing was well done. The cover is intriguing and does draw the reader’s eye to it. Overall, this is an entertaining read.

Vanessa Schierman PhD WITCH A Thrilling Dark Fantasy The Bloodsong Series edition by Sandy Nathan Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

Entertaining and compelling, Vanessa Schierman PhD Witch is a fun collection of three novellas that introduce us to the character that is an aged Tony Stark of metaphysics. While I received a complimentary copy of this book to review, and I often do because of the volume I read and the quality and comprehensiveness of my reviews, I don’t always necessarily find the work captivating and even worth my time to pick up. This book’s setup from page one immediately grabbed me by blurring the lines between fiction and reality, opening a self-aware universe by framing the story as a historical document. This clever, modern approach to storytelling is always fun if it is pulled off well, and in this short collection Sandy Nathan achieves it in a well-edited and well-executed collection… and, of course, it’s Halloween.

Of course, Schierman is already a recurring series character for Nathan, so the three stories in the collection explore the backstory of Schierman’s character, the characters that surround her, and gives a glimpse into her (and her compatriots) powers, abilities, priorities, and goals in a short narrative taste of the longer works. As a sample of the background story and a small jump into the series, (and available for free with Prime’s Unlimited), this would set any reader up for a serious and fun intro to Schierman’s adventures. I will likely not be picking the rest up, but that is mostly because it isn’t really my style of book. It is important to note, however, that this was an incredibly fun read and I enjoyed its intelligence, pacing, and content. While I don’t usually enjoy this genre, I loved my time spent with Schierman.

A fun book that can be read in one sitting, Nathan opens up the world of Schierman and the adventures of her smarmy, brilliant, and fun protagonist. While this is a cozy piece, there’s nothing wrong with such short, fun paranormal fun on a rainy day. Nathan’s format makes it all the more engaging for all audiences.
Vanessa Scheirman PhD Witch is a collection of 3 novellas describing the life of a witch. The first describes the interview process to show Vanessa is the richest woman in the world. She reveals that she wishes to gain the attention of her protege for a more romantic relationship. However, as revealed in the second novella, Will is too young and Vanessa is too old, and Vanessa's distant cousin seeks the rich young man for a replacement husband. Vanessa had killed hers when she discovered he was a vampire and had destroyed her family's legacy. Vanessa frantically tries to find a way to keep Will safe from the undead. The last novella is Vanessa's own description of how she fell victim to the author's promise of a book.

The books were kind of creepy. The spelling and grammar were impeccable, and the storyline very original. However, it just felt like an old lady complaining about her life and desperately searching for dead end answers. I would give these books a 3 out of 5 stars, but wouldn't recommend it to many people
